. Polls 259,851 against closest rival’s 81,031
Incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and
candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ondo State, is currently leading the poll by a wide margin.
Results so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission indicate that Aiyedatiwa had polled a total of 259,851 votes ahead of his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has 81,031 votes, leaving a margin of 178,820 votes.
The results from five Local Government Areas (LGAs) are still being expected.
Final collation of the results began at the INEC office in Akure, the state capital, at about 12: 35 am.
The Returning Officer for the Ondo election is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi.
