Cocopa, Nimba County – A 61-year-old employee of the former Cocopa Rubber Plantation, now the Nimba Rubber Incorporated, has reportedly been discovered dead in a holding cell of the Cocopa magisterial court in district#8, Nimba County.
The cause of death of the late Morris Gomo is yet to be disclosed, but before his passing, the deceased had complained that he was taken before the Cocopa magisterial court by his girlfriend, identified as Sercina Domah, for alleged abandonment and subsequently detained by Magistrate Ozoe G. Gynynelentu.
The girlfriend, Sercina Domah, had accused the late Gomo of abandoning his home and not feeling his two children.
Following the complaint, the deceased Morris Gomo was charged with persistent non-support and placed in the magisterial court’s holding cell in Cocopa but was found dead at 12:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
His death brings to ten, the number of people who have died in Police and courts’ cells in the county.
Several people have died in Nimba County as a result of suicidal acts, but motives behind such actions are yet to be established.
Meanwhile, Police in Ganta, Nimba County, have arrested Magistrate Ozoe G. Gynynelentu in connection to the death of Morris Gomo.
