An eyewitness who craved for anonymity told Journalists in Kano, that the incident occurred along the state road, a key location of the protests.

He said a protester who refused to disperse despite warning by security forces, was gun down by a police officer in front of the gate leading to the government house.

Two additional protesters were said to have been killed while attempting to flee the protest location, same location state road, where the earlier fatal shooting happened.

In a state broadcast, Kano state Governor Abba Yusuf, described as unfortunate event that transpired after the peaceful protest.

The Governor imposed 24-hour curfew “After exhaustive deliberations during Emergency State Security council meeting, it was collectively decided that 24-hour curfew should be put in place to prevent further looting and vandalization of shops including indiscriminate killing and maiming of innocent citizens.”

Meanwhile, unprecedented number of protesters converged in Dutse town, the State capital of Jigawa, to protest against hardship and hunger in the country.

Some armed thugs hijacked the protest looting properties and set ablaze the Secretariat of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the state capital.

Although, security operatives succeeded in blocking the path of the rampaging hoodlums from vandalizing public properties, and gaining access to the government house.
