Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has launched a blistering critique of a media aide to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, referring to him as a “data boy” and “dog seller” over comments about projects in Etche-Omuma.
Addressing the media on Friday, Fubara dismissed the aide’s social media criticisms of his administration’s recent project inaugurations, questioning the qualifications and credibility of the aide, who served under Wike’s administration for eight years.
“If they love you, the appointment they gave to one boy the other day, if you were good, why didn’t they give you that appointment? Go and check yourself; something is wrong with you,” Fubara said, expressing his dissatisfaction with the aide’s remarks.
The Governor accused the media aide of lacking a proper understanding of governance and urged him to focus on contributing meaningfully to society. “People who sell dogs and insult others online should reflect on their life choices,” Fubara added.
The criticism came after claims that Fubara’s administration was merely commissioning projects initiated by former Governor Wike.
The Governor clarified that while his administration respects and builds on past efforts, it is focused on delivering impactful new projects.
During the inauguration of the remodelled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada, Fubara said, “This investment will provide quality education for the girl-child and contribute to shaping responsible citizens.”
He emphasized that his administration prioritizes projects with lasting significance over those done for fanfare.
Fubara also highlighted challenges his administration had faced, including what he described as harassment and intimidation of traditional rulers and key officials like his Chief of Staff, Dr Edison Ehie.
“The truth is always clear: enemies have a time, their team cannot last forever,” Fubara declared, expressing confidence that justice would prevail.
He thanked the Ekpeye people for their unwavering support, noting their resilience in the face of these challenges.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to impactful governance, contrasting his focus on meaningful projects with previous initiatives he claimed lacked substantial impact. “We will not celebrate things that do not have meaning,” he said.
