Dele Olawanle, the solicitor to the United Kingdom controversial Pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has debunked claims that the clergyman is facing deportation.
Naija News reported that an immigration tribunal ruled that Tobi Adegboyega, 44, cousin of Star Wars actor John Boyega, will be deported to Nigeria following allegations of financial misconduct linked to his church, SPAC Nation.
The church was previously shut down after failing to account for substantial outgoings and facing accusations of a lack of transparency.
However, in a press release dated December 4, 2024, Olawanle described the claims as fake and false, emphasizing that Adegboyega has resided in the UK for over 20 years without any criminal record or convictions.
The lawyer clarified that while SPAC Nation had faced scrutiny from courts and the Charity Commission, the pastor was never found guilty of any wrongdoing.
Olawanle noted that the pastor had overcome various challenges but continues to thrive and frowned at those spreading the deportation rumours, calling such actions sensationalism and an act of idiocy.
The solicitor also questioned the societal tendency to bring down individuals who stand out, saying, “I wondered why there is joy in seeing people go down, including so-called pastors. Society has a big problem.”
Olawale reiterated that the deportation claims are baseless and false, adding that no further comments would be made on the matter.
