In a bold move, US President-elect Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to the BRICS countries, warning them against attempting to replace the US dollar with an alternative currency. Trump stated that the idea of BRICS countries moving away from the dollar while the US stands by and watches is “OVER”.
Trump demanded a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the US dollar. Failure to comply will result in 100% tariffs, and Trump warned that these countries should expect to say goodbye to selling into the US economy.
The BRICS countries, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa
The BRICS countries, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, have been exploring alternatives to the US dollar in international trade. However, Trump emphasized that there is no chance that the BRICS will replace the US dollar, and any country that tries should wave goodbye to America.
This move is seen as a significant escalation in Trump’s efforts to protect the US dollar’s dominance in international trade. The implications of this ultimatum are far-reaching, and it remains to be seen how the BRICS countries will respond to Trump’s demands.
