Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived back in Abuja following his participation in the lesser pilgrimage (Umrah) at the Holy Mosque of Makkah (Masjid al-Haram) in Saudi Arabia.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
The statement titled ‘Shettima Returns To Abuja After Umrah In Saudi Arabia’ claimed that while at the sacred location, the Vice President prayed for the peace and stability of Nigeria.
“Our prayer is for peace to prevail in our land. May Allah grant our land peace and social harmony,” VP Shettima prayed.
The Vice President’s petitions encompassed prayers for the leadership of Nigeria, spanning from the federal to the local government tiers.
Prior to his spiritual expedition, Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of a $315 million oil production and storage facility owned by Oriental Energy Limited in Dubai, UAE.
Shettima has spent a total of 61 days abroad, undertaking 12 distinct and recurring trips across various countries.
He has also amassed over 200 hours of flight time.
To date, Shettima has travelled to Rome, Italy; St. Petersburg, Russia; Johannesburg, South Africa; Havana, Cuba; Beijing, China; Iowa and New York in the United States; Davos, Switzerland; Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast (on two occasions); Nairobi, Kenya; and Stockholm, Sweden.
