He pointed out that when there is a protest during the tenure of a Hausa president, it may be wrongly portrayed as a Yoruba protest, and similarly, protests during an Igbo president’s term could be mischaracterized as Hausa or Yoruba protests. Now, with a Yoruba president in office, there is an attempt to associate current protests with the Hausa or Igbo populations.
Joseph questioned whether Yoruba people have seen improved welfare since a Yoruba president assumed office over a year ago. He emphatically stated that regardless of ethnic background, everyone is affected by the prevailing hunger and escalating costs in the country.

According to Vanguard, Joseph said, “If we have a Hausa man as, the politicians will mobilize their boys to tag it Yoruba people protest. If we have an Igbo man as president they will call it Hausa or Yoruba protest.
