Zamfara Gov swears in 14 Council chairmen

A few hours after the declaration of the election results and issuance of certificates of return to the winners of the local government council poll by the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission, Governor Dauda Lawal swore in the newly elected council bosses.

Lawal, during the swearing-in ceremony at Government House, Gusau, commended the state electoral commission for the conduct of a free and fair election.

According to him, the election of the democratically elected officials to man local government councils was a positive development at grassroots.

Governor Lawal urged the newly elected chairmen to be just and fair in the handling of local government resource and ensure utilisation of the funds.

He warned that, the state government would not fold it’s and allow misuse and recklessness in the spending of the funds.

“Let me stress that, we shall condone act of recklessness in handling and spending of the local government funds, any council found in the act would face the consequences”, he added.
