The vigilante member said that they engaged the bandits when they entered the village around 9:00 p.m.
According to one of the vigilante members, he told Abdullahi Yar’adua that, “We engaged the bandits when they entered the village around 9:00 p.m., but because they were in numbers and had sophisticated weapons and ammunition, we were forced to retreat. Despite our weaknesses, we were able to count seven casualties on the part of the bandits. The vigilante member said that nothing was heard about them because their abductors had not made any contact yet.”
