The latter, as claimed by the government are financially motivated by some Nigerians with the authorities recently releasing the supposed financiers including 15 entities, nine individuals among whom is Gumi’s ally and Kaduna-based publisher, Tukur Mamu.
Mamu is currently standing trial at the instance of the Federal Government for allegedly aiding the terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train in March 2022.
Reacting to the charge that some individuals and organisations are financially oiling the wheels of terrorism, in a Twitter spaces organised by Daily Trust, Gumi dismissed the claim, saying the activities of the terrorists are self-sponsored.
According to him, “No Nigerian will put his money into terrorism, we’re beyond that. These people are financing themselves by taking our children for ransom.
“So, how can we say some people are financing terrorism because there is a misunderstanding between them?
“Now they are looking for N1 billion for these children (kidnap victims) to be released. They (terrorists) financed themselves by kidnapping. I think it’s rubbish to just frame your political opponents as financing terrorism.”.READ FULL ARTICLE HERE>>>>
