Lazarus Ogbee, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State.
His defection, alongside over 3,000 loyalists, marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Ezza South Local Government Area.
This development comes on the heels of similar defections, including that of former Senator Obinna Ogba and House of Representatives aspirant Obinna Nwachukwu, who recently joined the APC in Ishielu Local Government Area.
Speaking after his defection at Unueke, the Ezza South Local Government Area Headquarters, Ogbee commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for ongoing projects in the state.
He emphasized that his decision to join the APC was not to destabilize the party but to collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen the party in Ezza South.
Ogbee, a former two-term House of Representatives member for Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, expressed gratitude to the APC state Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, for welcoming him and his supporters into the party.
He expressed confidence in his ability to win Ezza South in the 2023 general elections, citing his track record of electoral victories in the area.
Receiving the defectors, Emegha reiterated the APC’s commitment to inclusivity, urging all politicians and citizens in Ezza South to unite for the state’s progress.
He emphasized the party’s open-door policy, encouraging all opposition party members who wish to join the APC to do so.
