Speaking at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Retreat themed “Ako Bu Ije” (Development with Wisdom) held in Enugu, President-General Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu emphasized the urgent need for power devolution from the Federal Government to State Governments.

“It will enable us to build our own seaports, railways, and other infrastructure to develop the zone,” he stated, highlighting the potential benefits of restructuring.
Iwuanyanwu also advocated for the creation of an additional state in the Southeast to address the region’s economic and political disparities compared to other geopolitical zones. He warned of potential legal action against the Federal Government if this demand is not addressed.
In response, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State commended Igbo individuals serving in various capacities for their dedication and support. He emphasized the imperative of economic integration within the Southeast and urged collaboration among political leaders to create a conducive environment for investment.

During a paper presentation titled “Education: Technical Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Igboland,” Prof. Nnenna Oti, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), called for renewed hope, equal opportunities, and technological advancement in Igboland.
Rear Admiral Allison Madueke Rts., Chairman of the event, emphasized the importance of wisdom in strategic decision-making for the advancement of the Igbo community.
