By Oluseyi Dasilva

I was talking with a Muslim lady who converted from Christianity to Islam. Her name Rhoda attracted me to interview her as a journalist. I asked her, were you born a Muslim, came into Christianity and now back to the religion of your fathers?<<<READ FULL ARTICLE>>>

She said, NO. “My parents to four generations are Christians. My father is a Pastor in my church and my mother was a Pastor’s daughter.”

Which church do you attend?

I was born into CAC, my father’s church but my grandpa is a Deeper Life Pastor.

So how did you find Islam better than Christianity?

I don’t know much about Islam, the clerics just enrolled me into Ile Kewu, Quraniv school.

So what fascinated you, a supposed Christian sister about Islam?

I found a young guy that I fell in love with. He is a Muslim, but I love him dearly. We talked about issue of religion and he sincerely told me that, though he has vowed never to change religion for any reason, because of the love he has for me, he would convert. We started going to our church. At a point, he started being more active in our church activities and followed the evanngelical team on weekend fishing for the lost. We fixed a date to start planning our wedding and I went with him to the head Pastors house to inform him about my wedding plans to now Bro Malik Saheed.

The Pastors wife criticized me for making passes at a new convert and that I should not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever. She said the fact that I brought him to church is not enough reason for me to marry him. As if that was nit enough, my issue was gossiped all around the church and call me and ask, “Sister Rhoda, is it true you were luring a Muslim so that you can marry him? So you had become so frustrated and now mingle with jihadists?” I became worried, ashamed of mysellf but my conscience didn’t say I was wrong. As if that was not enough, few months later, I saw our Pastors daughter moving with Bro Malik. The human spirit in me raised questions but I decided not to be seen as canal minded, so I kept quiet. I was shocked to the marrow on a Sunday when the Church Secretary announced that Bro Malik Saheed will be taking Florence Oluwaseun Adeoti to the altar as his wife. Right inside church, unconsciously, I screamed Jeeesuuus Christ. I bent my head to the back rest in front of me and wept profusely. Sadly, some Elderly women came to me to tell me “Sister Rhoda, don’t tell us you are still in love with Bro Malik after all the counsel given you. ” I stood up, went outside and saymt under a Cashew tree in the premises. As I was there, Bro Malik and some brethren were going on a mission and as he was about entering the bus, I stopped him. “Malik can I talk to you?” and he came close to me. I asked him what happened that his choice of whom to marry changed?” and he explained that the Pastor has promised him a better life and counselled him that it’s not good to marry who converted you into Christianity because it’s a sin. He further said, that he has seen the bright light of the gospel, he doesn’t want to disobey higher graces ahead of him.” I felt bitter but not sure If I was right or wrong. I went to report the matter to another senior Pastor in same class but another branch and before I said anything, he called, “Sister Rhoda, I was told you are now flirting with a muslim convert simply because you brought him to church?” I didn’t bother to say a word, I simply she’d tears of anger and left him. Then I decided, that if this is what Christianity is all about, let me try another religion. I want to serve God but not among gissioers and dishonest people who feign believe but are real devil incarnate.
