A 35-year-old suspected notorious robber, Seun Samuel, has told police at the Lagos State Command that he joined an armed robbery gang because a politician he was working for betrayed him in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Egba Local Government Area of Ogun State. The suspect, who had allegedly been terrorising Ogun and Lagos states with his gangs, had been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command along with his gang members before the operatives of Lagos State Command arrested him.READ FULL ARTICLE>>>
He claimed he was an engineer repairing computers and phones before he ventured into robbery. But regretted his actions. Samuel said the politician, a member of All Progressive Congress (APC), was aspiring to go to the State House of Assembly when he approached him and some of his friends to work for him as security guards to protect him whenever he and his team were going out on campaigns. However, immediately after he won his election, he refused to pick their calls again. The Chairmanship of the tricycle garage he promised him was given to someone else.
Genesis
The suspect who hails from Ijebu Ode, but resides in Shomolu, Lagos State said he was also a professional boxer, before he met the politician who asked him and his gangs to work for him. Initially, we didn’t define what we were going to do for him, but few days later he told us we were going to be his guards and go with him whenever he was going out for campaigns, in case members of the opposition political party wanted to attack him and his team, we would be the ones to guard him.
He said: “Before my friends and I finally agreed to work with him, we reached an agreement on what we want from him and he promised to make me the chairman of Tricycle Riders at Mowe and fix some of my gangs members somewhere else, but he changed immediately he won the election and was sworn in. “He abandoned my friends and I. Whenever I call his phone line he wouldn’t pick my calls nor respond to text massages sent to him, but he later blocked my phone line from not reaching him.

“Out of frustration and not knowing what to do to put body and soul together, a friend of mine, Amaechi, who I met a long ago, I came across him again one fateful day in Lagos and we exchanged contact, he later called me that he had a job for me, that was how he introduced me to robbery and we formed a gang that will work with us immediately.”
He said: “The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), opposition candidate who had earlier called me to work for him, got me and my gangs arrested because he lost the election to the APC candidate. “The PDP candidate said we made him loss the election and he’s going to teach me and my gang members a lesson that we would never forget in our lives, that was how he got us arrested and detained us at the Police Area Command at Owode Egba for two weeks without food and water.
“While in police custody, I sent someone to the APC candidate that we worked for to help us out of the police custody, he showed a deaf ear to us. It was my family members who later came to bail my friends and I. “After I came out from the detention, I have nothing doing. And I planned to go back to my boxing career, but I have fracture in one of my arms when I had an accident on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, when I was traveling to Ijebu Ode to get my International Passport. As a result of the fracture I couldn’t fight or work again.”
Boxing
As a boxer I have traveled to some West African countries to fight before I had the accident. I am a professional boxer. The accident was in 2017, that was what stopped my boxing career. I had nothing to do after I stopped fighting as a boxer. The gang members I am working with are Michael, Poison, Muhammad, Henry and Badoo who is the leader of the gang.
First operation
“We are eight man gang of armed robbers. I started working with them after we were released from police detention. Our first operation was at Aro Community at Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. At a two storey building, I was the one who jumped into the compound to open the door for others to come in, few minutes after we entered into the compound Michael sighted a gun, and he went into the security guards building and brought out the gun.
“It was one of us, Henry, who rushed to where the gun was and picked it up, we never knew there was a policeman in the building. Immediately the policeman saw us he took to his heel and ran into the toilet with the fear we were going to kill him, fortunately that day we didn’t shoot. “We also ran outside of the compound and went away with the gun left behind by the policeman.
The following day we went for a second operation in another place where we collected phones and laptops and other valuables from the occupants of the building without attacking anyone. “While we were going we went away with a Lexus 330 and when we got to Orile Imo in the same Ogun State, Badoo asked us to come out of the jeep and he sped off with the vehicle, that action of Badoo annoyed me alot, I was given N30,000 after the operation, when I called Amaechi on phone to registered my grievances he said Badoo took the vehicle to Mushin to park it in a safe place for us to sell it.”
Samuel added that, after the second operation, Amaechi invited him and others for another operation. “When we were returning from Abeokuta to rob, I mean the first operation, four of us went to Ibafo to bury the AK-47 rifle we collected from the policeman in an uncompleted building, to avoid being arrested. But I was eventually arrested by the police.
In February this year, I was called for another operation at Ijebu area, but I don’t know the town, it was Badoo who took us there, when we got to the place it was Badoo who scaled through the fence of the house to open the gate for us to enter. “We collected phones and other valuables from the occupants. After the operation I was given N60,000 as my share.
On March 14, 2024, we went to Wawa Town, along Lagos Ibadan Expressway to rob again, there we robbed a hotel. “It was same Badoo that opened the gate of the hotel for us to enter and we also collected phones, money and other valuables from those who lodged in the hotel and the workers. At the operation Badoo was armed with locally made single barrel gun and Amaechi too was with gun. “Also, Muhammed too was with a gun. But we didn’t kill anyone.
It was a smooth operation, nobody challenged us till we finished the robbery. “After the operation, we went to Orile in Lagos to meet a guy called Chest. It was Badoo and Chest who later went to sell the jeep.I picked one iPhone XX max and started using it before selling it for N110,000 to a buyer called Hamburger at Orile. He’s the receiver of all our stolen goods. But I was tracked to Oshodi where I was arrested by the police.
“It is only my wife that was aware that I have been arrested, but she packed out of my house when she couldn’t cope with the rent and she went away with my two kids. Since then I have been staying with my parents whenever I am around. I don’t know how my parents will feel if they are aware that I am arrested by the police for robbery.
Police source
Earlier, a police source who spoke with our correspondent said the suspect and his gang members are suspected to have killed a policeman at Ifo.The source said the suspect and his gang members were declared wanted in Ogun State, before they were finally arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Command.
