BREAKING: Wike Breaks Silence on ADC Venue Crisis, Reveals Truth About Eagle Square Controversy

According to a report by The Vanguard on Monday, April 13, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that they were blocked from using Eagle Square for their national convention.

Speaking during a project inspection tour on Monday, Wike described the allegations as a cheap attempt to gain public sympathy.

According to the Minister, the opposition party never submitted a formal application to use the facility. He clarified that Eagle Square is managed by the Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL), and anyone wishing to use it must follow due process and pay the required fees.

Wike emphasized that the government does not deny access to public spaces based on politics because these events generate needed revenue.

“Who denied them? I am not even aware of which party you are referring to,” Wike stated. “If it is the ADC, these claims are their usual way of seeking attention. Both the APC and PDP followed the rules for their events; the ADC must do the same.”

He further clarified that the FCTA does not control the National Stadium Velodrome, which falls under the National Sports Commission, distancing his office from any venue issues at that location.

Addressing other city concerns, Wike urged residents not to panic over the damaged roofing at the Kugbo Bus Terminal.

He explained that a severe windstorm affected the sheets due to the building’s height, but the main structure remains intact. Repairs are already ongoing.

The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of city-wide road works, promising they will be completed by May 15, with streetlights installed by the end of the month. He also confirmed the upcoming relocation of roadside mechanics to the new Wassa artisan site.
