According to Anadolu Agency, Israel’s top military commander has warned that the current lull in large-scale fighting remains uncertain, stressing that troops are ready to resume operations at short notice across multiple fronts.
Speaking during an Independence Day ceremony in Jerusalem, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir addressed decorated soldiers but delivered a broader message about the country’s security posture. He emphasized that the military remains on high alert and capable of quickly transitioning from a fragile calm back into full-scale combat if necessary.
Zamir stated that the Israel Defense Forces are maintaining a heightened level of preparedness, ready to act decisively in any sector. His remarks highlight the delicate situation Israel faces after months of conflict punctuated by temporary ceasefires.
Tensions continue to persist in Gaza Strip, southern Lebanon, and in relation to Iran, despite ongoing efforts to prevent further escalation. Zamir described recent months as part of a broader campaign to rebuild military capability following the shock of the October 7 attacks.
He highlighted operations in Gaza as a key focus, saying the military had succeeded in its fight against Hamas while upholding its commitment to not leave soldiers behind. He also pointed to continued fighting in Lebanon aimed at strengthening defenses for northern communities.
