According to a report by The Punch on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the African Democratic Congress criticised the Federal Government over Nigeria’s growing debt profile, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of depending excessively on loans while citizens continue to face worsening economic hardship.

The opposition party reacted after the Federal Government sought an additional $1.25bn loan from the World Bank, weeks after the National Assembly approved several fresh external borrowing requests.
