According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, May 24, 2026, former member of the House of Representatives for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Danjuma Shiddi, has said his decision to run for the Taraba State governorship in 2027 is driven by the urgent need to tackle insecurity and reverse the state’s declining infrastructure.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Shiddi explained that his ambition under the All Progressives Grand Alliance is rooted in a broader vision to restore optimism among residents and lay the foundation for inclusive development.
He emphasized that his goal is to create a state where citizens can look forward to a more secure and prosperous future.
“My desire is to rescue Taraba from neglect, insecurity and infrastructural decay. My decision to contest the governorship under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is to restore hope and build a future that will favour all citizens of the state,” he said.
Shiddi further outlined key areas of focus, including improving security, rebuilding failing infrastructure, and supporting agricultural growth, particularly for rural farmers who form the backbone of the state’s economy.
According to him, these steps are essential to improving living standards and ensuring that residents can meet their basic needs without hardship.
“My move is to secure our communities, revive decaying infrastructure and uplift our farmers. I desire to create an environment where all citizens can afford basic necessities of life,” he added.
He also highlighted the harsh realities faced by many communities, noting that insecurity has eroded public confidence and left many residents in constant fear, while unemployment and lack of opportunities have dampened the hopes of young people.
“Many rural communities sleep with one eye open due to insecurity, while young people have lost hope in the future of our state. If elected governor in 2027, I will transform Taraba and make it a safe place for all citizens and businesses to thrive,” Shiddi assured.
