According to a report by Leadership News on Monday, May 25, 2026, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more than one million votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The governor stated that the pledge remains unchanged and reflects both the political direction of Jigawa State and the level of support the President currently enjoys among residents and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Namadi made the remarks while addressing journalists shortly after participating in the APC presidential primary election held at his political ward in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the primary election provided an important opportunity to assess the mood of party supporters and evaluate the level of political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor explained that the large turnout recorded during the exercise demonstrated the confidence many party members and residents have in President Tinubu’s leadership and policies. He noted that the participation witnessed during the primary reflected widespread support for the President across Jigawa State.
He further argued that the presence of large numbers of supporters at the venue was a clear indication of Tinubu’s popularity among the people, adding that the enthusiasm displayed during the exercise showed strong loyalty to the APC and its leadership.
Namadi also suggested that the turnout figures and level of participation served as a message to opposition parties, stressing that the APC was already positioning itself strongly for victory at various levels in the 2027 general election.
According to the governor, the outcome of the presidential primary demonstrated growing momentum for the ruling party and highlighted the readiness of party supporters to remain united ahead of the next election cycle.
He went on to commend APC members and residents of Jigawa State for what he described as their discipline, peaceful conduct, and integrity throughout the exercise. He praised supporters for maintaining orderliness from the beginning of the primary election to its conclusion and encouraged them to sustain the same spirit moving forward.
Namadi also urged party members to return to their various communities and intensify mobilisation efforts in preparation for the 2027 polls.
In his words, “As you can see, the people have lined up en masse for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while nobody is on the side of his opponents. This is a testimony to how popular the President is in the minds of the people of Jigawa.”
