LIVE EVIDENCE: PDP; We Have Written To INEC, Which Has Received The Letter, And We Have Evidence Of That-Ememobong

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it officially notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies about its planned political gathering amid ongoing tensions within the opposition party.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News’ News Night programme, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, explained that the party had complied with all necessary legal procedures before organizing the event. According to him, the party remains committed to democratic principles and lawful political engagement.

Ememobong said the PDP had formally written to INEC and that the commission acknowledged receipt of the letter. He stressed that the party possesses evidence confirming that the notification was duly received by the electoral body.

“We have written to INEC, which has received the letter, and we have evidence of that,” he said during the interview.

The PDP spokesman also disclosed that security agencies were informed about the planned gathering to ensure that the event would hold peacefully and without disruption. He maintained that political parties and citizens have a constitutional right to assemble and discuss issues concerning governance and national development.

According to Ememobong, the PDP would continue to pursue its political activities through lawful and democratic means despite internal disagreements and challenges facing the party. He urged public institutions and relevant authorities to remain neutral and uphold democratic values by treating all political groups fairly.

His comments come at a time when the PDP has been dealing with internal disputes and leadership concerns ahead of future political activities. However, the party insists that it will continue to engage relevant institutions while operating within the framework of the law.
