According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 30, 2026, the United States has said it holds more than sufficient weapons stockpiles and remains fully capable of resuming a conflict with Iran if necessary, according to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth speaking in Singapore.
Speaking at a major defense summit in Asia, Hegseth emphasized that the Pentagon maintains strong global ammunition reserves and can rapidly respond to any renewed escalation with Iran. He said the US military is well positioned due to its balanced supply of advanced and widely available munitions.
“Our ability to recommence if necessary is (that) we are more than capable, our stockpiles are more than suited for that, both there and around the globe because of how we balance exquisite and more plentiful munitions,” Hegseth tells Asia’s premier defense summit.
His remarks were delivered at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, where top defense officials from around the world gathered to discuss regional security challenges and strategic stability in the Indo-Pacific.
Hegseth stressed that US readiness is supported by careful planning and logistics that ensure weapons availability across multiple global theaters. He added that this capability is central to Washington’s deterrence strategy, particularly as tensions persist in several regions.
The comments come amid ongoing concerns about Iran’s military capabilities and broader instability in the Middle East. US officials have repeatedly highlighted the importance of maintaining credible deterrence through strong stockpiles, advanced weapons systems, and coordination with allies.
