According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of News Central TV on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, PDP Chieftain, Adetokunbo Pearse, criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its handling of the leadership dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview, Pearse alleged that the electoral body has failed to recognize what he described as the legitimate leadership of the party. He argued that despite ongoing legal and political developments, INEC has continued to maintain records that his faction considers inaccurate.
Expressing his concerns, Pearse said, “INEC has not uploaded the legitimate PDP; they are still keeping Anyanwu and his associates in their portal as PDP secretary.”
The PDP chieftain maintained that the continued recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu by INEC has contributed to confusion regarding the party’s leadership structure. According to him, his faction has complied with all necessary procedures and submitted the required documentation for official recognition.
Pearse also expressed confidence that the matter would eventually be resolved through legal and constitutional processes. He argued that the position currently reflected on INEC’s portal does not accurately represent the leadership recognized by his group.
