According to a report by Al Jazeera, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused the United States of failing to honor its commitments under a diplomatic memorandum of understanding, claiming Washington retreated from the agreement after Tehran demonstrated greater-than-anticipated strength during negotiations.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at a ceremony marking National Industry and Mining Day, Pezeshkian stated that Iranian delegates had steadily advanced toward key foreign policy objectives throughout the talks, only for the US side to renege on its obligations.
“In these negotiations, we moved forward step by step, and our main position was to open the Strait of Hormuz for oil exports and other vital issues, but the other side violated the deal,” Pezeshkian said.Watch Video/Continue..
