A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State, Dr. Maurice Vunobolki, has condemned the recent deadly attack on Hong Local Government Area allegedly carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Yola, Vunobolki expressed deep sorrow over the attack, which reportedly claimed several lives and left many others injured.
He described the assault as “senseless, heartbreaking, and unacceptable,” warning that the recurring attacks on vulnerable rural communities highlight the urgent need for stronger security measures across Nigeria’s North-East region.
The PDP gubernatorial aspirant extended his condolences to the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; the traditional ruler of the Huba Kingdom, His Royal Highness Alheri Bulus Nyako, the Tol Huba; as well as families of the victims and residents of Hong affected by the violence.
“This painful loss is not only for the Huba Kingdom but for Adamawa State and the nation at large,” Vunobolki stated.
He noted that the continued killing of innocent citizens reflects a disturbing pattern of insecurity that requires urgent and decisive action from relevant authorities.
While praying for the repose of the souls of those killed in the attack, he also wished the injured victims a speedy and full recovery.
Vunobolki further called for renewed commitment by security agencies and government authorities to end the cycle of violence and restore peace, safety, and stability in affected communities.
According to him, the tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for intensified efforts to protect lives and property, particularly in rural communities that have continued to suffer repeated insurgent attacks.
The attack on Hong is the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to Boko Haram activities in Nigeria’s North-East region, where communities have continued to face security challenges despite ongoing military operations against insurgents.
