‘People will lose hope’: Iranians smuggle messages to ‘Post’ begging Trump to return to war

According to a report published by the jpost.com, fear and uncertainty are intensifying across Iran as many citizens reportedly express frustration over the country’s political and economic situation. The publication revealed that some Iranians, speaking anonymously due to security concerns, believe continued international pressure on the Islamic Republic is necessary to achieve meaningful political change.

The report emerged amid ongoing diplomatic tensions surrounding negotiations between Washington and Tehran. According to testimonies cited by the newspaper, many Iranians have lost confidence in the possibility of reform through internal political processes. Several individuals reportedly risked severe punishment by communicating with Israeli journalists, as Iranian authorities criminalize contact with Israelis and frequently accuse dissidents of cooperating with foreign intelligence agencies.

One source identified only as “Z.” described the emotional strain experienced by citizens after months of political unrest, economic hardship, and government repression. The source claimed that many Iranians initially welcomed the return of US President Donald Trump, hoping his administration would support anti-government protesters and apply stronger pressure on Tehran.

The article stated that demonstrations across Iran were met with a harsh crackdown, with reports suggesting that thousands were either killed or disappeared during the unrest. Although Iranian officials acknowledged significantly lower casualty figures, human rights organizations and unnamed Western officials reportedly estimated the death toll to be much higher.

According to the report, concerns are growing that renewed diplomatic agreements between the United States and Iran could strengthen the Islamic Republic financially and politically. Critics fear that the release of frozen Iranian assets and possible sanctions relief could reduce pressure on the government while weakening hopes for political transformation.

“The people of Iran were very happy about Trump returning to power and saw him as their savior, but now that trust has become very weak because of Trump’s recent policies,” the source said.

Another source identified as “X.” reportedly described worsening economic conditions, rising inflation, unemployment, and declining social support systems. The report concluded that international attention remains focused on Iran’s domestic stability, regional influence, and ongoing diplomatic negotiations involving the United States, Israel, and Middle Eastern allies.
