The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed reports of internal disagreements over the anticipated 2027 election tickets under the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), insisting that there is no crisis between key stakeholders in Kano State.
Speaking on the growing speculation surrounding the political future of the movement, Kwankwasiyya spokesman, Habeeb, said former Kano State gubernatorial candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has aligned with ongoing consultations and discussions aimed at strengthening the coalition ahead of the next general elections.
According to Habeeb, recent media reports suggesting a rift among party leaders and supporters over the allocation of prospective tickets were unfounded and designed to create unnecessary tension within the movement.
He explained that leaders of the Kwankwasiyya Movement remain united and committed to ensuring that all decisions regarding political positions and candidacies are made through broad consultations and consensus.
“There is no disagreement between Gawuna and any leader of the movement regarding the 2027 elections. The discussions taking place are normal political consultations that occur in every democratic setting,” Habeeb said.
The spokesman noted that Gawuna has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the ideals of the movement and has remained actively involved in strategic engagements aimed at expanding its influence both within Kano State and across the country.
Habeeb stressed that members and supporters should disregard rumours of divisions, adding that the movement’s primary focus remains the consolidation of its political structures and the promotion of policies that address the needs of ordinary Nigerians.
He further stated that consultations regarding the NDC’s future electoral plans are still at an early stage and that no official decision has been reached concerning the distribution of tickets for the 2027 elections.
“The leadership is focused on building a strong and inclusive platform. When the time comes, candidates will emerge through established democratic processes. There is no basis for claims of conflict or rivalry,” he added.
Political observers have continued to monitor developments within emerging opposition alliances as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle. Kano State, regarded as one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping future political alignments.
Habeeb reiterated that unity remains the movement’s greatest strength and urged members to remain focused on the broader objective of providing effective leadership and governance.
He expressed confidence that the Kwankwasiyya Movement and its allies would remain united as consultations continue, emphasizing that reports of disagreements involving Gawuna and the NDC ticket arrangements are entirely misleading and do not reflect the reality within the movement.
