JUST IN: If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons – Davido

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, globally known as Davido, has strongly condemned the recent armed attack on Asimiyu Ajibola, the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State.

According to a report by Vanguard News on Thursday, 4 June 2026, Davido, in a post made via his official X account while reacting to the shooting that left the politician hospitalized, called on all political actors to reject violence and fully embrace peaceful democratic processes as the state prepares for its upcoming political cycle.

He also provided specific details of the Wednesday night ambush in Osogbo, revealing that at approximately 9:50 p.m., suspected political thugs opened fire on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola, popularly known within local political circles as Baba Isila, and his political associates near the Osogbo Community Bank axis in the MDS area. The singer underscored that the targeted shooting triggered widespread panic among residents before the injured party leader was rushed to the university teaching hospital.

The music icon went further to emphasize that ideological differences must never be weaponized to exacerbate the country’s fragile security situation, saying: “Regardless of our political differences, everyone must make sure they are not contributing to insecurity in our nation.” He also firmly declared that the calculated assault on the Accord Party chairman by armed hoodlums must be unreservedly rejected and condemned by all well-meaning citizens.

The singer also challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to test its actual popularity through democratic structures rather than intimidation, stating: “If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons.”
