The latest adjustment means motorists are now paying between N55 and N60 more for every litre of petrol purchased, the increase has added to concerns among consumers who are already struggling with the rising cost of transportation and other daily expenses.
The price changes were not limited to retail outlets. Depot operators also increased their ex-depot prices, which are the rates at which marketers buy fuel before selling to consumers, several depots raised their prices to between N1,249 and N1,270 per litre.
