Cultural Festival: Zaar monarch of Bauchi commends peaceful celebration of Lemb Zaar

Retired Air Commodore Ishaku Komo, the Paramount Ruler of Zaar/Sayawa ethnic group (Gungzaar-select) has commended the peaceful conduct of the 2024 Lemb Zaar annual cultural/Traditional festival which was held in Tafawa Balewa town of Bauchi state on Saturday.

The Lemb Zaar cultural festival is a harvest festival that is held annually to mark the beginning of the harvest season and the consumption of new crops. It is an important religious festival that honors the spirits of ancestors.

Speaking during the event, the traditional leader who expressed delight that the land is peaceful because his people trust in God, the king of Kings, prayed for peace to continue to reign in Zaar land, Bauchi state and Nigeria as a whole.

Rtd Air Commodore Komo who appreciated the Bauchi state Police Commissioner for providing adequate security before and during the festival, promised continued loyalty and support to the Bauchi state government towards peace, progress and development.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi state command who used his wisdom to secure the venue of the event”, he said.

The monarch who likened the wisdom used by the CP to that of king Solomon in the Bible, described Zaar land as a blessing to, not only Bauchi state but the country at large.

He also pledged that the Zaar people within his domain would continue to be loyal and supportive to the government to develop the area, both economically, socially and politically.

Rtd Air Commodore Komo while lamenting that some people who misunderstood the concept of the Lemb Zaar historical traditional festival had attempted to frustrate the program, appreciated God for allowing the festival to hold successfully.

The monarch who appreciated God Almighty for a successful farming and harvest season, cautioned his subjects against selling what they have produced unnecessarily.

“Earlier in the year, we were praying for rain to come, depending on God Almighty the giver of the rain and everything, and the rain came, and now we have good harvest. My people, I advise you not to sell what you have harvested, use it wisely, if you sell it you are inviting hunger into the land”, he said.

While emphasizing on unity among his subjects, the monarch enjoined them to ensure that wherever cracks exists, concerted effort should be made to repair it.

Rtd Air Commodore Komo said practical steps are being taken to strengthen the unity among the people in order to move forward as a Community.
