Israel Ogundipe, a popular prophet from the Celestial Church of Christ, has announced that a Nigerian bank recently proposed a loan of N1 billion to him. In a discussion with popular OAP and socialite Daddy Freeze, Ogundipe refused to disclose the identity of the bank but added that some big churches had collected similar loans, hoping to repay from funds raised from revivals and crusades.

Ogundipe explained that from the list he was shown, some churches took loans ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion.

He said: “A bank called me two months ago and said they wish to loan me N1 billion. They offered me the loan and I asked them what for. They replied that they know churches are getting it (loan) and I would be able to pay it back because they know my church is big.

“Then I asked them how they want me to be paying back, and they said when we are doing revivals, crusades, we’ll be paying back monthly.”

“And they mentioned some churches who got loans from them ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion. And I asked them how they expected me to pay back such an amount and they said those that collect such loans, that’s why they would never stop doing conferences, crusades, and revivals, and from there, they would get money to pay back,” the pastor added.

The cleric also narrated how his parents were very faithful despite being poor.

He said, “I hate sermons and pastors condemning people because Jesus came to redeem, he didn’t come to condemn.

“And he was actually condemning things as well that were not doing well between him and the Pharisees and the Sadducees. But in our former church, if you have to go to church every Sunday, you have to change your clothes, change your Sunday clothes and it was so bad that I was going to church with only one clothe for years because my parents were so poor.

“My mother used to be the first person to get to the church as a Deaconess.

“She would be the last person to leave the church. She would clean the church, she would do everything but there was someone that said if God has answered you, why must you be wearing only one clothe? That if prayer will change your life, why is your life like this? But to the glory of God, the person did not know that God would answer my mum through me.”
