This prestigious recognition coincides with the graduation of over 10,894 students from EKSU. Among these graduates, a remarkable 91 students have achieved the distinction of first-class honors. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun, announced the news at a press conference, highlighting the achievements of both the graduating class and the soon-to-be honorary graduates.

At the press conference held to announce the 28th convocation ceremony of a university, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, disclosed that two prominent personalities, former governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and Prince Julius Adeluyi, will be among the honorees. The Vice-Chancellor revealed that the recipients will be recognized with honorary degrees in various fields during the event on Thursday.

Specifically, Otunba Niyi Adebayo will be awarded a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), while Prince Julius Adeluyi will receive a Doctor of Business Administration (Honorary Causa) degree. In addition, two other recipients will be awarded a Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa).

Fresh crisis looms as PDP threatens to sanction Wike, others

The Vice-Chancellor announced the breakdown of graduating students:

91 students achieved first-class honors.
3,262 students earned second-class honors (upper division).
6,411 students graduated with second-class honors (lower division).
747 students received third-class honors.
An additional 4 students are graduating with Pass degrees.

The ceremony will also recognize postgraduate students. A total of 379 students will receive diplomas, postgraduate diplomas, masters, and doctoral degrees.

The university also recently received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer 16 new academic programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

These programs will begin in the upcoming 2023–2024 academic session. Some of the new doctoral programs include Ph.D.s in Laboratory Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Child Health, Medicine, Surgery, and Public Health.

The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the university’s commitment to infrastructure development. Over the past five years, his leadership has overseen the completion of nearly 30 impactful projects funded through TETfund and internal resources.>>>CONTINUE READING HERE
