Gambari community holds special prayers for Yahaya Seriki’s 2027 governorship bid

Gambari community in Ilorin on Sunday converged for a special prayer session in support of the governorship aspiration of Ambassador AbdulFatai Yahaya Seriki ahead of the 2027 elections in Kwara State.

The spiritual gathering, organised by the Sarkin Gambari of Ilorin, attracted a large turnout of supporters drawn from different political parties, underscoring a show of unity that cut across partisan lines.

The event featured the presence of traditional rulers, community leaders, clerics and academics. Organisers described the gathering as a reflection of a growing consensus anchored on shared interest in the future of the state.

Leading the prayers was the Imam Gambari of Ilorin, Shaykh AbdulAzeez Suleiman, supported by other clerics, who offered supplications for wisdom, guidance and success for the aspirant.

Among dignitaries in attendance were the Sarkin Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed Seriki; retired Permanent Secretary, Alabi Amuda Seriki; Kwara State NLC Chairman, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka; House of Representatives aspirant for Ilorin East and South, Hon. Moshood Gobir; Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Dan-Borno; and APC aspirant for Ilorin East Constituency, Arch. Ilias Sanni.

Speaking on behalf of the aspirant, his representative, Mr. Abdul Adangba, conveyed appreciation for the show of support and described it as a call to service.

“Ambassador Yahaya Seriki is deeply humbled by this demonstration of unity and goodwill,” he said. “He sees this as a responsibility to work for the collective progress of Kwara State and to justify the confidence reposed in him.”

Participants at the gathering stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility, noting that the prayer session symbolised a shared desire for credible leadership and sustainable development in the state.

The event ended with prayers for peace, stability and a successful political journey for Yahaya Seriki as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race begin to gather momentum.
