According to a report by the Daily Post on Friday, June 5, 2026, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his political alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking through a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric expressed concern that Obi’s political decisions could negatively affect his chances in the race for the presidency.
Ayodele alleged that Obi was not receiving the right guidance regarding his political ambition and claimed that some of the individuals around him may not be acting in his best interest.
He stated, “Kwankwaso is doing everything for his personal interest and nothing more.”
The cleric further maintained that Kwankwaso’s actions were primarily driven by personal goals rather than a commitment to advancing Obi’s presidential bid.
Ayodele added that although he admires Obi’s determination and political courage, he believes the former Anambra State governor faces significant challenges in his pursuit of the nation’s highest office.
He also suggested that developments surrounding the alliance could become clearer in the future, warning that by then, it might be difficult to reverse their impact on Obi’s political aspirations.
