JUST IN: APC Said Jonathan Was Clueless, That They’ll Tackle Insecurity, Now, They’re Listing Terrorists-Ogun

Former Member of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Sergius Ogun, has criticised the All Progressives Congress over its handling of insecurity, arguing that the party has failed to deliver on promises it made while campaigning for power in 2015.

Ogun made the remarks during an interview on News Central TV, on Saturday, 6 June, 2026, while reacting to comments by APC chieftain and public affairs analyst Adekunle Oladehinde, who had defended the ruling party against allegations that insecurity worsened under its administration. Oladehinde had argued that terrorism and other security challenges predated the APC government, citing the presence of Boko Haram in several local government areas before 2015.

Responding to that position, Ogun accused the APC of abandoning the strong rhetoric it used against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 election campaign.

“This same APC campaigned, said so many things about Jonathan that he was clueless that they will tackle insecurity head on. Now, he is there enumerating, listing the number of terrorists that are now in Nigeria,” Ogun said.

The former lawmaker maintained that the APC came to power on the strength of promises to decisively address terrorism, insurgency and other security threats confronting the country. According to him, it is contradictory for party loyalists to now defend the government by pointing to the scale of insecurity that existed before the APC assumed office.

Ogun further argued that Nigerians expected measurable improvements in security after the change of government and that public officials and party members should be held accountable for commitments made during election campaigns.
