According to report by The Sun on Friday, June 12, 2026, Veteran Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, has raised concerns over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, urging the Federal Government to take immediate and stronger action against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the country.
The actor made the appeal during a protest in Abuja held on Thursday under the “Tinubu Must Go” movement, organised by social and human rights activist VeryDarkMan.
Speaking at the gathering, Ike expressed deep worry over how insecurity has continued to affect everyday life, particularly the freedom of movement many Nigerians once enjoyed. He noted that road travel, which used to be a common and convenient means of transportation, has now become a source of fear for many citizens due to repeated cases of attacks and abductions on major highways.
He explained that many Nigerians now embark on journeys with anxiety rather than confidence, as reports of kidnappings and armed attacks have made travel increasingly dangerous.
A video of his remarks, which circulated widely on social media and was obtained by Daily Sun via X, showed the actor speaking passionately about how insecurity has changed the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Ike lamented that the situation has forced many people to adjust their movement patterns, with some avoiding certain routes entirely while others reduce how often they travel because of safety concerns. He stressed that this growing fear has placed additional pressure on families and businesses already struggling with economic challenges.
According to him, insecurity is not just a political issue but one that directly affects livelihoods, mobility, and the general well-being of citizens across the country.
He called on authorities to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for kidnappings and violent attacks, warning that failure to act decisively could worsen the situation further.
Ike concluded his remarks with an emotional appeal, saying: “I love travelling by road, but today I am denied that freedom. So many Nigerians love travelling by road, but we are no longer safe. We are begging the government, please don’t let this go too far. It might be your children tomorrow.”
