A political debate has emerged following remarks by Comrade Chris Agu, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Enugu State, who questioned the loyalty of some prominent figures within Nigeria’s opposition movement.
Speaking during an interview aired on Afia News and published on June 18, 2026, Agu made a controversial claim about actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo and his relationship with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to Agu, if Obi had been declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election and entrusted Okonkwo with a key role in his administration, the former spokesman would have ultimately worked against him.
