The Minister of State for Petroleum (oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has said President Bola Tinubu is committed to reforming the oil and gas sector for the benefit of the country.

Senator Lokpobiri said President Tinubu’s extensive expertise in the oil and gas sector would aid in attracting investment and ensuring sustainable growth in the sector.

He stated this while speaking on Wednesday at the commissioning of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) Tower in Lagos.

He highlighted that the government’s partnership with labour unions remains of immense value, particularly in the oil sector, “a key driver of our efforts to increase crude oil production“.

With his extensive expertise in the oil and gas industry, President Tinubu is leading bold reforms to attract investments and ensure sustainable growth.

“Achieving this vision depends on the collaboration of critical stakeholders, including unions like NUPENG and PENGASSAN, whose contributions are vital to repositioning the sector for national prosperity.

“The Government deeply values the role unions play in ensuring stability and productivity across the oil and gas value chain,” he said.

The Minister of Petroleum urged the labour union to fully embrace their leadership role in these reforms because true progress comes from shared success. “Together, we are committed to fostering industrial harmony and building an oil sector that benefits all Nigerians,” he stated.

Lokpobiri assured the federal government was committed to achieving production2.6 million barrels per day as outlined in the 2025 budget.
