The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday declared that the “era of uncertainty is over,” as its National Executive Committee (NEC) approved key resolutions aimed at strengthening internal unity, deepening reforms, and preparing the party for the 2027 general elections.
The resolution is contained in a communique issued at the end of the party’s 108th NEC meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The meeting, which reviewed developments within the party following its national convention, commended the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed for what it described as “dedication, commitment, and proactive efforts” in stabilising the party.
NEC expressed confidence in the leadership’s ability to steer the party towards unity and electoral success, stressing that the PDP remains “a strong, united, and formidable political family.”
According to the communique, the party reaffirmed its commitment to reconciliation and internal cohesion, insisting that disagreements must be resolved through dialogue and adherence to party structures.
It further noted that the ongoing electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise remains central to modernising the party’s database, improving transparency, and strengthening grassroots participation.
On preparations for the 2027 general elections, NEC adopted the timetable and schedule of activities for party primaries, including the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, in line with revised electoral guidelines.
The party directed strict compliance with the timetable, warning that discipline would be enforced to ensure a transparent and credible nomination process.
The NEC also reviewed the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), directing all organs of the party to adhere strictly to guidelines governing submission of membership registers, conduct of primaries, and resolution of electoral disputes.
The committee urged party structures across the country to immediately begin preparations for state primaries, stressing the need for inclusivity, transparency, and compliance with statutory provisions.
Reiterating its position on discipline, NEC called on members to remain loyal and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions, noting that unity remains critical to reclaiming political leadership at all levels in 2027.
The communique concluded with a firm assurance that the PDP remains focused on consolidation, internal stability, and electoral competitiveness.
“The NEC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the unity, stability, and progress of the PDP and expressed optimism that with discipline and cooperation, the party will remain well-positioned to reclaim leadership in 2027,” it stated.
The communique was signed by the National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party.
