Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has disclosed details of his recent meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, where discussions centred on preparations for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election.
He made this disclosure in a post on his verified X handle on Wednesday.
Bamidele, who also serves as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Election Campaign Council for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, said he visited the Presidential Villa alongside the governor to brief the President on the council’s readiness.
According to him, the meeting focused on presenting the campaign council’s preparedness and its strategic workplan ahead of the official commencement of campaigns in the coming days.
He reiterated the council’s determination to secure a landslide victory for Governor Oyebanji in the election scheduled for June 20, 2026. Bamidele revealed that the APC is targeting victory across all 177 wards in the state, with a projection of no fewer than 500,000 votes.
The Senate Majority Leader expressed confidence that Oyebanji’s performance over the past three years would play a crucial role in securing the mandate of the electorate.
Bamidele further noted that a decisive win for the Ekiti governor would not only consolidate the party’s hold in the state but also strengthen the political base for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He added that the campaign council remains fully committed to mobilising grassroots support and ensuring a coordinated effort that would translate into overwhelming success at the polls.
