BREAKING: Senator Ndume Comments on Benishek Attack, Names Slain General

Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South has lamented over the recent killing of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, stating that a senior military officer was killed by what he described as ragtag individuals in the Northeast.

Speaking on Arise TV, Ndume said, “General Braimah that we lost in Benishek is from Auchi in Edo State, a General was killed by these ragtag people. And you know why? It is because our troops don’t have the equipment, and they don’t have the ammunition. And yet they have to go out there and they are committed. In fact, the commitment of the Nigerian armed forces also applies to the police, they are all facing the same thing: they don’t have the equipment. We don’t have enough drones,” he said.

The Senator acknowledged that there has been some improvement since President Tinubu declared a state of emergency on security and procured additional air force equipment, but argued that Nigeria’s military remains severely under-resourced compared to its African counterparts.

He pointed out that Nigeria’s total military platforms amount to less than 10 percent of Egypt’s and no more than 20 percent of Algeria’s military architecture.
