According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Iran’s military has issued a strong warning to the United States, stating that its forces are fully prepared to respond immediately if Washington carries out any new military action against the country.
According to remarks broadcast by Iranian state television, the statement was delivered early Wednesday by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters. He said Iranian forces are maintaining what he described as “100 percent readiness” and are prepared to strike predetermined targets without delay if attacked.
“Our capable and powerful forces have long been in a state of 100% readiness and are ready and on the trigger,” Zolfaghari said in his remarks, which were widely circulated through state media channels.
He further warned that any act of aggression against Iran would trigger an immediate and forceful response. According to him, Iranian forces would “immediately and powerfully attack pre-determined targets” if the country is targeted by the United States or its allies.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, following recent developments involving a ceasefire arrangement and maritime restrictions. Earlier this week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States would extend its ceasefire arrangement with Iran. The decision, he said, followed a request conveyed through Pakistani officials, signalling continued indirect diplomatic engagement between the two sides.
Trump also confirmed that the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports would remain in place. He said he had instructed American military forces to continue enforcing the restrictions until Tehran presents what he described as a “unified proposal” acceptable to Washington.
The combination of military warnings and ongoing economic and maritime pressure has contributed to a volatile regional atmosphere. Iran’s latest statement appears intended to signal deterrence, reinforcing its readiness posture while responding to continued U.S. sanctions and military deployments in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz and surrounding Gulf waters remain particularly sensitive, given their strategic importance to global energy supplies.
