In a recent interview shared by the official YouTube channel of Arise TV on Monday, May 25, 2026, public affairs analyst Nnaji Charles provided insights into the implications of the recent Federal High Court judgment nullifying the revised election timetable.
According to him, the ruling presents a critical moment for political stakeholders to reassess their strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that “It is an opportunity for parties like APC where primaries have thrown up challenges.” This, he explained, creates a window for political parties to revisit contentious primary processes and address grievances raised by dissatisfied aspirants.
Charles noted that many of the issues witnessed during party primaries were largely driven by time constraints imposed by the earlier timetable. With the court’s decision effectively resetting the process, parties now have the chance to improve internal coordination and ensure that candidate selection reflects the true will of their members.
He further stressed the importance of internal conflict resolution, urging aggrieved aspirants to utilize party mechanisms to seek redress rather than escalate disputes. According to him, failure to address these concerns could weaken party unity and affect overall electoral performance.
The analyst concluded that if political parties take advantage of this development responsibly, it could strengthen internal democracy and enhance the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of 2027.
