According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 18, 2026 Germany has condemned Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates and other countries, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz stating that Tehran must stop threatening neighbouring states and allow unrestricted movement through the Strait of Hormuz. He said in a post on X that Iran should also enter serious negotiations with the United States.
