BREAKING: We Know How To Count Properly, We’re ADC, We Will Not Jump From 3 To 30 Or From 500 To 1000- Emenike

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun its presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general election, while taking a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over vote counting and party membership figures.

According to a report by Vanguard on Monday, May 25, 2026, speaking in Abuja on Monday, Chairman of the ADC Presidential Primaries Election Committee, Chief Ikechi Emenike, said the party would conduct a transparent and credible process. He stated that the ADC would not manipulate figures or inflate numbers during the primary election.

Emenike said the party was different from others because it allowed real competition among aspirants instead of producing candidates through secret arrangements. He added that party members across the country were already voting and were expected to ensure accurate results.

The ADC presidential race is between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said the party was proud to be conducting what it described as a genuine presidential primary where no aspirant could predict the outcome.

The party also rejected claims by another faction that announced Dumebi Kachikwu as ADC presidential candidate, insisting that the recognised leadership remained under former Senate President David Mark and former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola.

In Emenike’s words, “We know how to count properly and arithmetically. We are ADC. We will not inflate our registration numbers to deceive Nigerians. And when counting votes, we will not jump from 3 to 30 or from 500 to 1000.”
