According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Vinicius Junior has denied rumours of problems with Kylian Mbappe, insisting that the two forwards maintain a strong relationship both on and off the field despite Real Madrid’s disappointing season.
There has been growing discussion about the partnership between the two stars after Real Madrid failed to win a major trophy this season.
When Mbappe joined the club in 2024, many fans and analysts predicted that balancing both players in the same attack could become difficult. Since then, questions have been raised about their on-field chemistry, while reports also suggested there could be tension between them behind the scenes.
In a recent interview, Vinicius rejected those claims and stated that he has always shared a positive relationship with the French forward. The Brazilian also revealed that he repeatedly encouraged Mbappe to join Real Madrid before the transfer happened.
Vinicius said he had always maintained a good connection with Mbappe and regularly sent him messages urging him to move to Madrid.
The winger admitted that the partnership has not yet produced the level of performances or trophies many expected, but he remains confident they can improve together in the future.
He explained that both players are still working to reach their best understanding on the pitch and believes success will eventually come.
Vinicius also praised Mbappe for supporting him during difficult moments away from football, particularly after the controversial incident involving Benfica earlier in the season.
The Brazilian described Mbappe as an important teammate and a player capable of building a major legacy at Real Madrid because of his quality and personality.
Despite ongoing speculation surrounding their partnership, Real Madrid reportedly have no plans to sell either player this summer. Incoming manager Jose Mourinho is instead expected to focus on creating a tactical system that allows both stars to perform effectively together as the club looks to return to the top level of European football.
