Comrade Abdulrauf Adebayo, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, has raised concerns over internal party divisions ahead of the next general elections. The political analyst warned that deep-seated intra-party conflicts and an apparent lack of cohesion could severely impact the ruling party’s electoral fortunes across the state.
According to a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of TVC News on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, while analyzing the political atmosphere and recent primary disputes, he stated, “if care is not taken, the APC may lose Kwara State in the 2027 governorship election,” referring to ongoing internal divisions.
The party stalwart emphasized that the aftermath of the recent primary elections has left the local chapter highly fragmented and vulnerable. He explained that opposition parties are already positioning formidable candidates to capitalize on these internal cracks, specifically targeting key senatorial districts where the ruling party previously enjoyed comfortable political control.
Adebayo further noted that the arbitrary selection of preferred candidates over popular choices could lead to voter apathy among loyal party members. He insisted that the national leadership must intervene quickly to correct current administrative anomalies and restore transparency to avoid an embarrassing defeat at the upcoming gubernatorial polls.
