According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Saturday, June 6, 2026, visual artist and kidnapping survivor, Christian Joe, shared a chilling account of his ordeal in the hands of abductors, revealing how victims were managed and controlled during captivity.
Speaking during the interview, Joe recounted the psychological and physical trauma he endured while being held in the forest alongside other victims. He explained that communication with the outside world was tightly controlled by the kidnappers, who dictated when and how victims could make contact with their families.
He further revealed a striking detail about how the captors allowed limited access to a mobile device during his captivity. According to him, “They gave me a small handset on the third day so I could go on Facebook and say that I had been kidnapped.”
Joe noted that this access was not granted out of goodwill but appeared to be part of a calculated strategy by the abductors to pressure families and possibly accelerate ransom payments. He added that conditions in the camp remained harsh, with victims subjected to fear, uncertainty, and restricted freedom of movement.
