Primate Elijah Ayodele has predicted a possible realignment in Nigeria’s political space, suggesting that several political parties may form alliances with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of upcoming elections.
In a video shared on Facebook, the cleric made the remarks during a sermon, where he spoke on what he described as emerging developments in the country’s opposition politics. According to Ayodele, the ADC could become a central platform for coalition-building among parties seeking to strengthen their chances in future electoral contests.
“So many parties are going to form coalition with ADC,” he said, indicating that opposition groups may adopt a unified strategy to challenge dominant political forces.
Ayodele also warned that such a development could provoke strong reactions from authorities. He claimed that the government might respond with allegations and legal battles aimed at weakening the party’s growing influence.
“Despite all, the government will come out with strong allegations and litigation against ADC,” he stated.
However, the cleric expressed confidence that such measures would not ultimately succeed in halting the party’s progress. “But I’m not seeing that working,” he added, suggesting that the ADC and its potential allies would withstand any political or legal pressure.
His comments come at a time when discussions around coalition politics are gaining renewed attention in Nigeria. Historically, opposition parties have explored alliances as a strategy to consolidate votes and improve their competitiveness during elections.
Although Ayodele did not name specific parties likely to join the ADC or provide a clear timeline, his remarks have generated interest among political observers and followers who closely monitor his predictions. The development adds to ongoing conversations about the future direction of Nigeria’s multi-party system.
