Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has made a significant announcement regarding his future in football, stating that he does not intend to coach another club once he departs from the Premier League champions.
Pep Guardiola made this statement during a press conference on Tuesday, just a day before City’s crucial UEFA Champions League match against Juventus.
Guardiola, who has been at the helm of Manchester City since 2016, reaffirmed his commitment to the club after extending his contract for an additional two years back in November. His tenure has been marked by an impressive list of achievements, including multiple domestic titles and a growing reputation in European competitions.
In his recent comments, Guardiola reflected on his journey as a coach, noting that he has already experienced stints with some of the most prestigious clubs in Europe, including FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However, he made it clear that his focus is solely on Manchester City for the foreseeable future.
“I’m not gonna manage any other club after City,” Guardiola stated.
He elaborated on his plans, emphasizing that while he is not contemplating a long-term future beyond his current role, he is resolute in his decision not to leave Manchester for another club in a different country to replicate his current work.
He added, “Maybe a national team, but that’s different,” suggesting that while he may consider managing at the international level someday, it would not reflect a desire to take on the challenges of club management elsewhere.
